I have been a bit busy with the Holidays quickly approaching I have been needing to update the blog. I realize I have been neglecting this blog a bit so I am here to say to EVERYONE we are back in action! Yes, we do have lives and I love to document moment by moment. However, LIFE just sort of takes off! If you don't document the moments that make up "life" you will miss out on so much! So, sit back and relax because I will be updating a month in a glance. Are you ready? Let's go....
Every year our great friends "The Fields" and us go on an "annual" camping trip. Annual- definition: Once, one, uno ,...you get the picture. This is the one time the "boys" can convince us girls(Stefanie and Lauren) to go out into the woods and camp! We will be troopers can camp ONCE under a few conditions.
1) There MUST be running water ( I mean bathroom, sink, that sort of "normal" stuff
2) There MUST be an area where we can build FIRE!
3) There MUST be shopping! ( I don't mean the local grocery store either) I mean normal places like TARGET :) or heck even a walmart
So, every year Stefanie and I give each other pep talks to keep each other CALM. I mean....it's the woods. God did not intend GIRLS and WOODS to go together, which is why he created people to have a vision of the industrial WORLD known as a CITY
So, let's get to the story!! Every year we LOAD, STUFF, and WIGGLE any camping and other things needed/wanted for camping. Each year our skills get better :) This year Stefanie and I were giving each other pep talks when we walked outside to see the "boys" packed the car.
Stefanie and I were a little shocked they didn't let the girls do this part! We saw what they did and were proud! Until, we realized they kind of forgot about leaving us a place to sit in the car.
We just laughed, smiled, and said "oh, boy!"
As we arrived to Lake Somerville, Texas it was around midnight! It was going to be an adventure worth documenting to see the boys set up tents in the DARK. It was so dark out there we used our Stefanie's headlights from her SUV.
The air mattresses were next...And...Erik had the "hand pump" kind
shaking head ...while The Fields had the "electronic blow up in like 5 seconds watching The Petersons still blow up theirs"
Okay. RANT is over....
Finally, we all got to get bundled up and go to sleep in our "tents,"
I forgot to tell you all....it's 29 degrees according the Stefanie's car! So, we are sleeping on the ground "nearly" below freezing weather.
1 o clock, 2 o clock, 3 o clock....my toes, nose, and everything is frozen! I cannot sleep! It is even too cold for any form of entertainment. I shake my head and say this is nuts! All the sudden I hear The Fields' tent get unzipped! I wake to tell him I am up...I'm cold, I have to pee, and I am done! Erik, of course saying it's not cold grumbles as he is half asleep.
Stefanie unzips our tent next. I hear
stefanie:" LAUREN!" Are you cold" Let's get out of here!"
Lauren: Oh my gosh! Yes, I am done! Let's go!
All three of us ( Stefanie, Lauren, and Bradley) are all in the car warming up with the heater! Brad asked me where Erik was. I tell him he is in the tent. Stefanie looks at me..I look at Stefanie...and Brad tells us he isn't cold he is going back in the tent.
The girls were the smart ones in this situation! As the boys are trying to prove "something" of themselves we are keeping warm and trying to get feeling back to everything!
Stefanie and I (at this point) are exhausted, cold, and hungry! So, we send Stefanie on a mission to find food in the packed stuff.
She finds peanut butter(her favorite), bread, and a knife!
A peanut butter sandwich has never tasted soooo good!
It was the BEST peanut butter sandwich E-V-E-R!
At this point, it's 5 a.m.
We hear"hunters" very close to us! We were done....Our first night was beyond miserable, so we started our day by getting ready at the "closest" restrooms, brushed teeth, and started a fire!
We made our 2nd breakfast out in the woods too! It was pretty good! We had the Peterson's breakfast Taquitos!
We added a little twist to our annual camping trip this year! We invited Nikki and Aaron from Austin, Texas to join us!
They brought mountain bikes and toys for the boys to play with :)
Stefanie and I caught up on our sleep, watched chick flicks, and went shopping at A & M.
When they returned Nikki prepared an awesome dinner and had such great stories around the camp fire!
The next day we woke up to drink mimosas and breakfast tacos!
We had a couple's carving contest, but I didn't get those pictures uploaded because they were on Brad's camera!
The Fields carved a chic fil A logo
The Hayes carved a monogram H and a few other details
The Petersons carved a jack o lantern with a harry potter sign
We all had a blast...
Can't wait until 2011 camping Trip with The Fields, Hayes, and Petersons!
